 A shoutbox, saybox, tagboard, chatterbox, chat box, or comment section is a chat-like feature of some websites that allows people to quickly leave messages on the website, generally without any form of user registration. In their simplest form, shoutboxes are simply lists of short messages, possibly with information about their authors. The page may be automatically refreshed after a certain interval, or polled dynamically in order to keep new messages visible. Older posts are often deleted after a certain number of messages have been written in order to preserve space on the server.

shoutbox or chatbox is a box where your visitors can leave their messages directly on your site. It is similar to a chat, but the messages are also stored like in a guestbook. Press "See one!" above to see a free shoutbox in action. Update your site frequently with fresh content so that every time your visitors come back, they will have something to read on your site. This is the most widely known and most effective method of attracting returning visitors, but this is also the least carried out one because of the laziness of webmasters. What i like most about the shoutbox is I can have then on all my sites and blogs, that means if I am on 1 of the sites I can chat with my visitors. now to me live chat there is nothing better than that!

Blogger shoutbox installation instructions

Here is a guide how you add a FreeShoutbox.net shoutbox to your Blogger blog.

1. Create a free shoutbox at http://www.freeshoutbox.net/
2. Login to blogger, go to "Manage layout" for your blog (it may also be called "Template" depending on which Blogger page you are at).
3. Press "Add a Page Element" shown in the sidebar layout.
4. In the page that pops up, select "HTML/Javascript".
5. At the next page, fill in "Shoutbox" or something similar as title and paste the HTML-code you get when logging in to freeshoutbox.net in the content field.
6. Save and check your blog, you'll probably have to edit the HTML-code and change the height and width parameters to fit your blog, I found that width 250 seems to be fine for this blog's sidebar.
